At the end of each month, I publish a post reviewing the highs & lows of the month.
These posts are for the paying subscribers of The Son Do Move, as their generous support helps make a lot of my creative endeavors possible. However, I’m not ignorant as it pertains to the economic situations many of us are facing. I don’t want money to be the barrier to community. If you’d like to participate in these posts or take advantage of all of the other benefits of a full subscription to The Son Do Move (like accessing the full archive of posts), but a paid subscription isn’t for you right now: send a message to teamtrey05@gmail.com and we can get you plugged in.

This month was a bit of a blur this year, and I could really use a June 31st right about now. Maybe even a 32nd. No reason in particular, other than me very much needing things to slow down just a bit so I can catch my breath.

Pros:

  1. Juneteenth didn’t get erased. Yet.

Since the re-election of that one guy (who used to be on that one TV show) to the highest office in the executive branch of the federal government of the USA, all of our various bigotries and anti-Blacknesses have come roaring back like there was a BOGO sail on being terrible.

But none of that aggressive white supremacy was sufficient to undo a federal holiday this go round.

I can’t speak for next year. (You can never count the racists out for too long.) But this year, angry, ignorant people who don’t read books (and want to ban the books that other people might get around to reading eventually) had to sit back and be agitated while some people celebrated that time some enslaved people were freed.

    I love that for us.

  2. I got to link with framily in person.

Me & some of the other leaders from The Intention Church got a chance to link up at the annual meeting for our church’s area conference. That doesn’t happen too often, because we live in two different countries on two different coasts. In fact, this is the first time all 3 of us have met in-person together.

It’s a wonderful thing when you meet people in person for the first time and it doesn’t feel like you’re meeting for the first time.

Don’t let anyone tell you that online friendships can’t be real.

  3. My kids made me cry on Father’s Day.
