Pros & Cons: July 2024
It's time for Presidential candidates to lead the way in doing the right thing.
Last month, we celebrated Juneteenth. This month, we celebrated White Juneteenth.
It’s time for some pros & cons!
Pros:
I got to spend time on a porch.
Each year, the AAU Junior Olympic games take place toward the end of July/beginning of August. As a parent, it can be a pretty exhausting & expensive time of travel and constant reminders of how broke you are. But it’s a dope time of connecting with family and a nice change of pace.
This particular trip, our Airbnb (By the way, in general? I hate Airbnb. Hotels are superior in almost every single way.) has a back deck and a front porch. And the whether has been phenomenal. So I’ve spent a lot of time on the front porch (and back deck) reading, praying, meditating, and just staring at nature. It’s been such a balm to my exhausted soul.
10/10. Definitely recommend.I watched my kids grow in maturity.

In three trips to the Junior Olympics, this is the first year my son has failed to hit the podium in an event, and he’s done it twice this year already. My daughter has missed the podium in an event for only the second time in 5 attempts over 3 trips. And they’ve handled it SO well. Of course they were disappointed. But they’re behaving as people who understand that things don’t always go your way, and that life goes on.
